FAQs
Your first visit will usually take around 1 hour and will include a detailed assessment of your health. This will involve questions about your current complaint, your medical history and general well-being. This appointment will typically include the first chiropractic treatment.
After that, ongoing appointments typically last for 15 minutes.
Your chiropractor will begin by carrying out a physical examination. The results of the examination combined with your medical history will allow us to formulate a diagnosis.
Once a diagnosis has been reached, your chiropractor will spend time with you discussing:
- The results of your examination
- A diagnosis
- A recommended Plan of Care, including treatment, exercises and lifestyle changes which may assist your recovery
- Any further investigations if necessary
Only when you are happy with everything that has been discussed, chiropractic treatment will begin.
Chiropractic treatment usually does not hurt. We strive to make sure that treatment is as comfortable and pleasant as possible, and most patients do not experience any pain at all. However, it is normal to experience some post-treatment soreness, similar to when you have enjoyed a vigorous workout.
The noise comes from air bubbles moving as the pressure changes within a joint. When conducted by a chiropractor, this is perfectly healthy and safe.
Nevertheless, a ‘popping’ sound is not indicative of a successful adjustment and some adjustments do not make any audible sound at all.
We offer a package of care at Stafford Chiropractic Clinic to treat our patients, often using a variety of techniques to help improve and treat our patients with a range of conditions.
Please see the services page for more information.
We aim to book in emergency appointments within 24 hours. You can also contact us on Instagram or Facebook if it is out of clinic opening hours and you need to book an urgent appointment.
You should wear clothing that is loose and comfortable and does not restrict movement. For example, running shorts, yoga leggings and a loose top.
There are a range of factors that will influence how many treatments you will need and it will vary based on the diagnosis that your chiropractor provides at your initial consultation along with your individual health goals.
A referral is not necessary to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors are trained to assess and diagnose patients directly.
We do treat patients who wish to cover the cost of their treatment with their health insurance.
We recommend that you ask your insurance provider before seeking treatment. We simply ask that you pay us directly after treatment and then claim this back from your insurance provider. We will provide you with a receipt, which you can use to claim the payment back yourself directly from your insurance provider.
Chiropractic treatment at Stafford Chiropractic Clinic is independent from the NHS.
As registered primary care practitioners, chiropractors have the training and expertise to assess whether chiropractic treatment is the best option at the initial consultation and if it is not, then they will point you in the right direction. Stafford Chiropractic Clinic has strong relationships with local GPs and consultants, who they can refer you to directly where necessary. If further investigation is required, then the chiropractor can make a referral for any imaging you may need.
Our chiropractors use a range of techniques and have extensive experience in treating children of all ages, from newborns to infants and teenagers. Chiropractic treatment is very safe, gentle and effective for children in order to keep their bodies in good alignment and functioning at their best.
We do not provide X-Rays onsite. Your chiropractor will only refer patients for X-Rays when it is judged to be clinically necessary.
It is normal to experience some level of discomfort during pregnancy and there are a number of ways that seeing a chiropractor can be beneficial. We have chiropractors who are specialised in treating pregnant women and babies, who can provide a wide range of safe and gentle techniques at all stages of pregnancy. The clinic also utilises pregnancy equipment for optimum comfort.
